# Pellicule

Pellicule turns Vue components into MP4 videos. Make animations, product intros and reusable video templates with code.

<video controls playsInline preload="metadata" poster="/examples/pellicule-intro.png" style={{ width: '100%' }} aria-label="A 30-second Pellicule film with an original instrumental soundtrack">
  <source src="/examples/pellicule-intro.mp4" type="video/mp4" />
  <a href="/examples/pellicule-intro.mp4">Download the 30-second film</a>
</video>

Press play for sound. The green bars become the `ll` in Pellicule, move through a short animation, and return to the wordmark. The [optional source guide](/guides/edit-the-source) explains how this showcase was made.

## Who is it for?

Use Pellicule when you want a video you can edit and render again: a product announcement, a logo animation, or a template with changing text and colors.

If you write Vue, you can build the scene directly. If you prefer to describe what you want, a coding agent—an assistant such as Codex, Claude Code or Cursor that edits files and runs commands—can write it for you. Pellicule's official skill gives that assistant the rendering and animation instructions. You do not need Vue experience to follow this guide.

## How does it work?

A Vue component describes what appears in the video. Pellicule renders it in a browser, one frame at a time, then uses FFmpeg to encode those frames into an MP4. The current frame number drives the animation, so you control when each movement starts and stops.

You need Node.js, FFmpeg and a Chromium browser for rendering. There is no existing Vue application to set up for this standalone example.

## Make something you can keep

[Make your first video](/quickstart) with a short prompt and Pellicule's official skill. You will have a simple three-second MP4 you can change and render again.

For a deeper example, [explore timing and sound](/guides/timing-and-output) in the optional 30-second showcase project. To see how that animation works, [read the scene](/guides/edit-the-source).
